Music Hall introduces ikura, a design collaboration between Doing & Done represents a visual and technical departure. The result is a unique high-end, gloss black split design with a MDF platter coated in a high-gloss finish belt driven audiophile master piece. Three rubber cone feet elevate and isolate the plinth, under which all connections, electronics are mounted underneath. Critical listening components are kept separated on the top of the turntable to ensure sound quality is maintained. For the first time, music hall collaborated with an outside industrial design firm to develop and complete the project. The foundation of ikura's gloss black design remains the unique two-piece split-plinth design originated by music hall and the final product is the result of a dynamic design partnership between Doing & Done, headed by designer James Kyroudis, and music hall. The medium density fiberboard platter and felt mat rides a high quality, stainless steel ball bearing coated in Teflon providing fluid and noise-free operation. Initial lubrication of the bearing assembly is done during factory assembly.
